What is Waste Management?
The substances that arise as a result of production, application and use and that threaten the environment and human health are called waste. Waste management, on the other hand, is the evaluation or elimination of wastes by using recycling or storage areas in line with various plans according to the type of waste. With the Waste Management Regulation, its scope and content were determined and presented for publication.
In order to make waste management planning, an authorized person must first be determined. This official; creates a waste collection, separation and recovery plan in accordance with the regulation. Then he sets up the teams. The most important point of waste management is to separate the wastes. In addition, it is extremely important to choose the appropriate method and technology management plans for this process. This is called integrated waste management.
The application scheme in waste management is called the waste management pyramid. The bottom layer of this pyramid is to minimize and prevent waste generation. In an upper layer, recycling and reuse of waste is aimed. If reuse is not possible, waste is converted into energy.
At the top of the pyramid and the last method to be applied is the disposal of waste by practices such as incineration. However, this can lead to air and environmental pollution. For this reason, the separation and recycling of waste is very important.
