What is hollow brick?
Hollow brick, which is a kind of brick, is also called ceiling brick or floor brick. It is made to obtain a flat ceiling. It also provides sound insulation and causes less protrusion on walls or floors than beamed flooring. Mold work is also easy and mold cost is low.
The purpose of the hollow block floor is to ensure that there are no beam protrusions that can spoil the interior. In the toothed floor, the gap between the teeth can be left, but this is not seen in the hollow floor floor. Concrete briquettes, aerated concrete, foam, hollow baked clay and materials specially produced for this type of flooring are used to fill between the teeth.
Filling materials should be selected considering the static and reinforced concrete calculations of the construction. These calculations may not be taken into account for hollow slabs that are not used for transportation purposes. Since it is heavier than slab floors, it can create a risk in case of earthquake. Therefore, it is not recommended to be used in earthquake zones.
