The bay window is the name given to the balcony located on the upper floors of the buildings, protruding from the main wall of the building towards the street. The distinctive feature of the bay window, which is widely used in old Turkish architecture, is that it is closed in front and is not a continuation of the general building architecture like a balcony, but is positioned as a separate section outside the main wall. It can be used as a room as well as a balcony function.

The bay window, which has the appearance of a closed balcony, can be preferred in today’s architecture to add an aesthetic appearance to the building. Bay windows, which are also built to give summer buildings a warm look; It is also known as the old style exit, exit, şahniş and cihannüma. In order to provide an aesthetic appearance, wood and glass or stone and glass materials can be used in the construction of the bay window.
