What is a Garden Wall?

The structures that separate the gardens from other areas are called garden walls. Its construction is not subject to a license; however, wall height is subject to planned and unplanned space regulations. Technically, it is known as the enclosing wall and it is used to mean a structure that has no bearing feature and is built for the purpose of delineating the boundary. This is the difference with a retaining wall. It is also thinner and shorter than the retaining wall. However, the garden wall can also function as a retaining wall.

Garden wall procedures are generally as follows:

  • The height of the garden walls cannot exceed 0.5 meters on the road side and 2 meters on the back, starting from the natural or leveled ground. In addition, railings with a maximum height of 1 meter can be built on them.
  • Administrative units are authorized to evaluate the shape of places with excessive slope and danger.
  • Buildings such as schools, prisons, places of worship, hospitals, embassies are not subject to these rules.
